THE GRIT BOOK is the most comprehensive book covering municipal wastewater grit ever written.

Grit is one of the biggest threats to the successful operation of wastewater treatment plants. Yet there is surprisingly little published information available.

THE GRIT BOOK

Historically, grit removal systems have failed to capture the grit they were designed for. Design information found in textbooks consistently failed to result in grit removal systems that could effectively capture grit. Many people assumed that grit removal systems did not work. Three individuals from different sectors of the wastewater industry were determined to understand why these systems failed. The result of their independent efforts to understand and eliminate grit resulted in the material found in THE GRIT BOOK.

THE GRIT BOOK represents a compendium of information that has led to a significantly improved understanding of wastewater grit.

THE GRIT BOOK was co-authored by three industry experts who were intimately familiar with wastewater treatment, as a result of decades of attention to something often treated as an afterthought. The concepts presented herein finally provide designers, engineers, and plant owners with the understanding needed to specify grit removal systems that can eliminate grit problems.

A Few Of The Things You Will Find In THE GRIT BOOK

- Crucial tools and concepts needed by designers and engineers to design grit removal systems which work
- Details about grit behavior in wastewater, and why engineering textbooks have historically missed the mark about grit behavior and grit removal systems
- The hidden costs of grit and the problems it causes for treatment plants
- Relating real world grit behavior in wastewater to the behavior of clean sand in clean water
- Details the enitre grit removal system chain - separation, washing, and dewatering
- Provides a
better understanding of the behavior of grit, and explains why most current grit removal systems do not (and cannot) work
- Explains sampling techniques which accurately represent grit behavior and methods to quantify and characterize grit
