Historically, grit removal systems have failed to capture the grit they were designed for. Design information found in textbooks consistently failed to result in grit removal systems that could effectively capture grit. Many people assumed that grit removal systems did not work. Three individuals from different sectors of the wastewater industry were determined to understand why these systems failed. The result of their independent efforts to understand and eliminate grit resulted in the material found in THE GRIT BOOK.
THE GRIT BOOK represents a compendium of information that has led to a significantly improved understanding of wastewater grit.
THE GRIT BOOK was co-authored by three industry experts who were intimately familiar with wastewater treatment, as a result of decades of attention to something often treated as an afterthought. The concepts presented herein finally provide designers, engineers, and plant owners with the understanding needed to specify grit removal systems that can eliminate grit problems.
